Duchester for Salty?
So here's a trade question for you, RotoJoe.com community.....
I've been offered Jarrod Saltalamacchia (TEX, C/1B, $1) for Justin Duchscherer (OAK, P, $3).
Now a few things about the league....it's a 5x5, 10 team, AL only league, auction draft, $260 draft budget w/ max of 12 keepers.
Salty could be kept only for the upcoming year at $1, but I could have him for the next year, AND the year following that if I extend his contract to $6. Duchscherer is good at $3 for 2 more years, or can be extended for a third year by adding $5 to his price tag.
I'm leaning towards making the trade since I like Salty's catcher eleigibility and he's a steal at $1....heck, he's even a pretty good deal at $6!
But, Duchscherer could be a really good bargain at $3 this year with his move to the rotation. Duchscherer, I think, is a bit more of a gamble, and I'm not sure if it's worth taking.

I agree with you i like
I agree with you i like Salty more. I think he will contribute some this year but in 09 having him locked up for a minimal price would be ideal. Plus anyone witha great nickname like Salty is A-OK in my book.
Good no-trade
Wow, I saw this pop back up and have to say congrats to myself for not making this trade.
I ended up really needing pitching after basically punting it during the draft. Sure, I love Salty, but I'm really glad I held on to Duch for now. Heck, leading the AL in ERA...I wish I could say I saw that coming.
Besides, Salty is probably at least another year away from hitting his stride.
No one saw Duscherer doing
No one saw Duscherer doing what he is doing right now...heck he was always a great draft pick because he was the setup man in oakland and saw the first opportunity to get saves whenever Huston Street blew up or went on the DL...no one would have called you crazy for making the deal...however, Duscherer alone can't really save a pitching staff, you have to have more than just Duscherer!
