Worst Picks of the 2008 Fantasy Draft...4 per position!!!
C - Salty, Paul Lo Duca, Carlos Ruiz, V. Martinez
Even though I am high on Salty...Thank you Texas for screwing the pooch! Maybe you should let the kid play a little bit more and you will see the results you are looking for! Seriously Gerald Laird! Lo Duca, your just getting to old and its getting harder to watch! Ruiz you are losing time to a 36 year old rookie! V. Martinez is struggling without protection from Hafner!
1b - Travis Hafner, Adam Laroche, Chris Duncan, Dmitri Young
All four of these guys are having putrid years! Duncan was sent down to the farm, Young is playing sparingly, Laroche what a way to get paid...have that big year for the Braves and suck ever since, and Travis I can't a thing Hafner is headed for the DL and showing Indians fans that without that bat they are just mediocre at best!
2b - Chone Figgins, Robinson Cano, Jeff Kent, Howie Kendrick
Okay so Chone Figgins, and Kendrick have been killing you all year because they have been hurt...Understandable! Kent and Cano on the other hand have just been down right awful at the dish! Neither is hitting over .240, and they are doing nothing to help their teams in run production!
SS - Troy Tulowitzki, J.J. Hardy, Khalil Greene, Julio Lugo
Sure Tulo has been hurt for over a month now, but that doesn't make up for that .152 avg before the quad injury, J.J. Hardy has just been bad this season...I thought he turned the corner last year with that breakout season but it just looks like he is back to his mediocre self! Khalil Greene is not living up to any of the expectation the Padres have for the former #15 overall pick...he strikes out A LOT, and his avg is awful! Julio Lugo is a major disappointment...I think the Red Sox need to draft Reese Havens and build from within at the shortstop position rather than try and replace Nomar with the next hottest name!
3b - Hank Blalock, Scott Rolen, Eric Chavez, Josh Fields
Blalock and Chavez have been killing people all year with the injury bug. Scott Rolen is just getting old and his time is passing him by with new flashy third baseman coming into the league! Josh Fields is getting screwed over by the ChiSox keeping Joe Crede around...fields out played crede in the spring but because of a huge contract Crede gets the nod!
OF - Gary Sheffield, Barry Bonds, Delmon Young, Brad Hawpe
Sheffield is getting old...I mean everything is getting old...his bat speed, speed, listening to his mouth, he is somewhat delusional as well...to think he needs to hit 3rd in that lineup! Bonds hasn't picked up more than a bill to his lawyers all season! Delmon Young just hasn't been that stud everyone thought he was going to be when he was playing for the Charleston River Dogs of the Rays organization, and Brad Hawpe hasn't been playing up to expectations in that thin Colorado air...after a huge season last year and the run to the World Series...many thought that the Holliday Hawpe monster in Colorado would run away with the west...wrong Hawpe has been injured and downright awful when he wasn't!
SP - Verlander, Myers, C. Young, Oswalt
I am huge believer that Oswalt is going to turn his season around…although I know he has been pretty bad! Verlander and Myers were supposed to be the anchors of their respective rotations...I think the anchors have been thrown overboard and left at the bottom of the sea! C. Young just doesn't look like the same guy he was last year, and neither does his face!
RP - Gagne, Isringhausen, Corpas, Borowski
The first three pitchers up there have just their game...the mental edge a closer is supposed to have...the cocky im going to shove this pitch straight up your *** mental psyche is gone! Borowski got hurt and was pretty awful early this season, however he is turning it around!

As a proud Laird owner, I
As a proud Laird owner, I took that personally... oh wait, I don't think that's supposed to be a good thing!
Hardy is disappointing. Last year he went crazy, but you'd figure he'd get to .270BA & 15 HR/SB. Doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I'm not so sure about Borowski, though. Not saying that he hasn't been bad, just that if you drafted him, you pretty much knew what you were getting into. I did...and did.
Good list. I'd like to add a couple of my own misgivings here:
OF - Vernon Wells. Got torched last year, came back for more and it hurts even worse this year!
P - Kazuo Fukumori - I guess only one Asian w/ a cool FUK name can be good at a time. This little $1 closer flyer sucked.
Pretty good summary of the
Pretty good summary of the folks destroying fantasy baseball seasons.
I wanted Hank Blalock to be my backup for Chipper when he got injuried. Now with this wrist injury who knows how he will play in a few weeks when he comes back. Thankfully the chipper injury bug has not come YET.
I was high on Verlander. I have him in both my leagues and he has tanked my pitching staffs. Wish i could have avoided him!
I don't have Cano, but Cano was very bad the first two months last year and a monster the rest of the season. It is possible he could still turn this around, but you are right as of now he has been worthless!
